At Wild and Clever we do not need or require a diagnosis to help your child. We offer the same personalised service with or without a diagnosis meeting your child where they are and helping them on their literacy journey. If reading, writing or spelling are challenging, and you want specialised learning support – we’re here for that. 

Parents often ask this, and as a literacy expert, wish I had a straight-forward, evidence-informed answer. But, the truthful response is I don’t know. Each child learns at their own pace. They begin where they are and progress from there. To me, literacy is like a maze, with many paths that you can take. Sometimes there are roadblocks that make us go back and go around, sometimes things fall into place in leaps and bounds. The goal of all our intervention is progress. We might work together for a short time, or for several years – there are so many variables that factor into the timeframe. 
Anna Gillingham is quoted as saying “Go as fast as you, but as slow as you must.” and for me, that makes perfect sense. 

Yes, usually. Whether it’s a drawing, word practice, or a game, homework at Wild and Clever is designed to be fun - not a chore. Practicing between sessions helps skills stick faster. 
If homework ever feels tricky or overwhelming, just let us know. We’re happy to find a way that works better for your family. 

Yes, a few simple things help support learning: a quiet workspace, a notebook, a pen or pencil, and some coloured pencils or textas. We also use special resources—downloads we’ll send you ahead of time to prepare and/or our very own resource kit (coming Term 1, 2026).
